An Unforgettable Weekend!

After attending Christi's funeral, mother and I went to the cemetery where my father, grandparents, and great-parents are buried. We were placing flowers. Behind the monument on my father's grave is a Shepard's hook. Mom told me to take it home. She had too many problems with the hook being crooked. After placing my flowers on my dad's grave, I placed my foot close to the bottom of the Shepard's hook and grabbed it to pull it out. Suddenly, the hook swung around hitting the side of my head and knocking me to the ground. As I felt my head, I saw there was blood. I began to feel nauseated. All I could think of was "not to pass-out". Mom gave me about a box of tissues to put on my head to stop the bleeding. Mom and I held my head as we made the 10 to 12 miles trip to the hospital. Fortunately, I just received a large lump and a puncture wound to the head... Saturday night, was when the real excitement started. Harold L.(my husband), Harold W.(my step-son), Dave (a friend), and Rodney (a brother-in-law) attended the races north of Flora. While at the races, Harold W. was shocked with the news about a co-worked and 2 relatives being killed in a fiery crash. Harold W. told his friend, Dave, he felt really tired. Later while Harold W. was driving them home, the truck started to move to center line then over the center line. Dave said, "Harold are you asleep?" Harold W. stared ahead without any response. Then, Harold L. shook Harold W.; Harold W. started vomiting. Dave knew Harold W. was having a heart attack. Dave reached over top of Harold to steer the truck. Dave turn off the cruise, which was set at 70 mph. However, the truck continue to speed faster and truck was swerving all over the road. Noticing Harold W.'s foot on the accelerator, my husband reached down and removed Harold's foot from the accelerator. Dave told Harold W. to lightly step on the brake and then told him to do it again. Finally, after placing the truck in neutral, Dave was able to steer the truck to the side of the road. When they removed Harold W. from the truck, he started vomiting blood...Immediately, they loaded Harold W. in back seat of his dully and rushed him to Richland Memorial hospital. At 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Harold L. came home to tell me and to retrieve his vehicle to return to the hospital. Upon telling me about the incident, Harold L. informed me "Now, you just stay here and rest." REST! REST! Was he kidding me! I wasn't about to stay home, this is our family. Arriving at the hospital, Julie (Harold W.'s wife) told me they were life flighting Harold W. to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. The hospital was having difficultly obtaining a helicopter. Finally, at 2 a.m. a helicopter landed, my husband scared to death, walked beside Harold W.'s cart as they loaded him unto the helicopter. Pam (Harold W.'s sister) who lives in Ablion made it to Evansville before the helicopter landed. Therefore, she was there to greet Harold W.. Pam asked him how he was doing. His reply, "I've had better days." Harold W. was immediately rushed into a heart catheterization. The rest of us arrived at 3:30 a.m. at Deaconess. At 4:30 a.m. Harold W. came out of surgery. We were informed the artery in the back of his heart was 99.9 blocked and did some damage to back of his heart. First words came out of Harold's mouth was "What the hell happen?" The last thing he remembered he was driving his truck. Dave's reply, "Yep, you sure took us for a ride!" Tuesday, Harold was release from Deaconess. We were all excited and relieved he was home. Unfortunately, our joy was brief. Apparently, he did too much Tuesday. Wednesday, Harold was placed in the Intensive Care Unit at Richland Memorial Hospital... Wednesday evening, Charlotte took Jess to the e-room he has a bad cold...I'm not sure if its not pneumonia... Hopefully, the next time I write this BLOG everyone will be well!
